The opening course by Prof. Dr. Yaser S. Abu-Mostafa, "Artificial Intelligence: Evolution and Revolution (and Hype!)" Who is Prof. Dr. Yaser S. Abu-Mostafa ?
Prof. Dr. Yaser S. Abu-Mostafa is professor at Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at the California Institute of Technology, and the president of Machine Learning Consultants LLC. His main areas of expertise are Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence, Computation Based Finance (CF) and Data Science. He is the author of "Learning from Data", one of the best-selling books on machine learning in the world. His online lessons on machine learning have been viewed by more than 5 million times.
Dr. Abu-Mostafa was awarded with Clauser the Most Original Thesis with his doctoral study completed in California Institute of Technology. He was awarded with Richard P. Feynman prize and 5 separate prizes for his contribution to undergraduate and graduate courses at the same university. He is the co-founder of Neural Information Processing Systems (NIPS), a high-level artificial intelligence conferences held every year in the international arena. The Hertz Foundation established the Abu-Mostafa Graduate Scholarship Program in 2005 in honor of him.
Dr. Abu-Mostafa has been a consultant for artificial intelligence and machine learning in many of the most well-known companies and Citibank's scientific advisory boards. In addition to 3 articles published in Scientific American, he has numerous academic publications and is an invited speaker at distinguished international conferences.
